Pottery Classes & Creative Clay Experiences in Upper Hutt

WELCOME TO
THE POTTERS' ROOST

A pottery studio in Royal Street, Upper Hutt, created for curious beginners, experienced potters, social groups and anyone who needs a welcoming space to create.

Here, clay is more than something you shape. It is a way to slow down, reconnect with yourself, meet good people and make something real with your hands.

Join a pottery class, book a private clay party, become a studio member, or join the Phoenix Program — our community-focused mental wellbeing course made possible through every class, event and membership.

WHAT GOES ON AT THE ROOST?

A Social Enterprise for Upper Hutt

Every time you book a class, join a workshop, host an event or become a member, you are helping The Potters’ Roost fund creative wellbeing opportunities for the local community.

The Phoenix Program is at the heart of this work. It exists to make clay-based creative support more accessible to people who may need calm, connection and renewal but may not otherwise be able to afford it.

At The Roost, your creativity has a ripple effect.

New to Pottery? Start Here

You do not need experience to begin. Most people arrive nervous, unsure or convinced they are “not creative.” That usually changes once their hands meet the clay.

Our classes and workshops are designed to be gentle, practical and encouraging, with clear guidance from start to finish. You will learn real pottery techniques while giving yourself permission to experiment, make mistakes and enjoy the process.
